Welcome to Your Neighborhood Bistro
Kitchen serves classic French bistro fare in a charming, cozy dining room just blocks from downtown Chapel Hill. Since opening in 2010, our seasonally influenced dishes and warm, attentive service have created loyal fans among locals and visitors alike. Kitchen was voted Best French Restaurant seven times by readers of Chapel Hill Magazine, and Best Overall Restaurant and Best Service five times.
Classic Bistro Fare, Farm to Table
Our menu ranges from classic bistro dishes like Steak Frites, Duck Confit, and Mussels & Fries to daily specials highlighting North Carolina seafood and produce from one of our many favorite local farms. Our wine list is carefully edited and features the best of the Old World (and a few bottles from the New World). Our space has seating at the bar, in the dining room, and when the weather allows, we open the striped umbrellas for dinner on the patio. Kitchen also hosts several special events and wine dinners throughout the year.
Our Story
Owners Dick and Sue Barrows have worked in and owned restaurants all of their lives. But when their daughter came to North Carolina to attend UNC, they decided to move to Chapel Hill and open the kind of restaurant they enjoy eating at themselves – one where great food made from local ingredients is served in friendly surroundings. Kitchen is the result.
